Equipping Orientations
Teaching Orientation
A teaching orientation develops people until they can understand, apply, and communicate biblical truth without remaining dependent on the teacher.
Orientations based on Ephesians 4:11-13. These describe how you may contribute to developing and equipping others. They never assign a church office or title.
Scripture
Scripture: Berean Standard Bible (BSB)
Teaching ministry equips the saints and helps the church grow toward maturity.
Truth is entrusted through generations to people who can teach others also.
Teaching aims at presenting people mature in Christ.
Creation to restoration
Its place in the Bible's one story
God created humanity to know Him, represent His wise rule, and help others flourish. Sin scattered and distorted that calling, but God formed a covenant people and promised a renewed people who would know Him. Jesus gathered and trained disciples, inaugurated God's Kingdom, and gave His life to create one new people. The risen Christ now gives grace to His church so believers mature and participate in His mission until the whole creation is renewed under His reign.
This orientation builds a learning culture in which people handle Scripture responsibly and help others grow rather than relying permanently on experts.
Recognizing it wisely
Look for learners who become clearer, more faithful, and more independent. This differs from the service gift of teaching, which emphasizes accurate explanation; the orientation emphasizes developing other people over time.
