Equipping Orientations
Apostolic Orientation
An apostolic orientation is energized by extending the church's witness into new places, establishing new ministry, and connecting people and resources around a larger mission.
Orientations based on Ephesians 4:11-13. These describe how you may contribute to developing and equipping others. They never assign a church office or title.
Scripture
Scripture: Berean Standard Bible (BSB)
The risen Christ gives apostolic ministry with other equipping gifts so the whole body matures.
The Spirit sends Barnabas and Saul from a worshiping, discerning community.
Paul describes a pioneering desire to proclaim Christ where foundations have not been laid.
Creation to restoration
Its place in the Bible's one story
God created humanity to know Him, represent His wise rule, and help others flourish. Sin scattered and distorted that calling, but God formed a covenant people and promised a renewed people who would know Him. Jesus gathered and trained disciples, inaugurated God's Kingdom, and gave His life to create one new people. The risen Christ now gives grace to His church so believers mature and participate in His mission until the whole creation is renewed under His reign.
This orientation helps the church cross boundaries, begin sustainable work, and keep local ministry connected to God's wider mission.
Recognizing it wisely
A score suggests an orientation, never an office or title. Healthy pioneering remains sent, accountable, collaborative, and committed to what it starts; novelty or independence alone is not apostolic fruit.
